What is WSOAPP?
We are a group of primitive and whimsical style artisans. While we have a social facet to the group, we have come together and formed to promote and cross promote our businesses, using our pooled resources.
Who am I buying from when I make a purchase on WSOAPP.org?
When you make a purchase on WSOAPP.org, you are purchasing from an individual artist. WSOAPP is not involved in any part of the transaction ; we do not collect commissions, nor do we keep any records of sales that go on between our artists and their buyers. All parts of the transaction occur between you and the artisan you are purchasing from.
What if I have problems with the transaction or the artisan?
WSOAPP has a thorough vetting process and makes every attempt to only host artists who are respected and reputable business people with proven track records. We understand that occasionally, some misunderstandings may arise but we do not get involved in disputes between the purchaser and the seller. All disputes need to be resolved between the seller and the buyer. We have found that most problems are easily resolved with quick and cordial communication. If you are having trouble reaching an artisan, try to contact them through their "contact me" link with in the site, this is the most current contact information that they have provided.
Do I need to have an account to purchase from an artisan?
You do not need to create any type of account to purchase from an artisan at WSOAPP. You may see login forms on the site at bottom of some pages, but these are for artisan members only.
How do I make a purchase from one of your artisans?
Most of our artsists use Paypal and provide you with either an Add to Cart button or a Buy it Now button that links directly to their account, but some use the "email me" option. If you do not see a Paypal button present, the artist will provide instructions in the listing on how to purchase the item. Some prefer to take checks or money orders. If you don't see the "email me" option or the Paypal button option, contact the artisan directly through their contact me link in their shop, please do not contact WSOAPP as we do not keep track of artisan listings.
Is the new site like the old one as far as listing times?
Yes and no! Our artisans are listing new items all the time now, filling their shops with inventory. We will still be sending out monthly newsletters that go out on or around the 7th of each month to keep our mailing list updated on current events and promotions, and many of our artisans still maintain that 7th of the month update to coincide for the best exposure. If you have a particular shop that you like to follow and want to stay current on, we suggest that you contact that artisan and ask to get on their personal mailing list so that you can know when they list. Another great way to keep up with your favorite artisan's current listings is to follow the WSOAPP twitter account, as we are now set up to highlight every new listing when it is made on our page. You will be up to date at all times!!!
I am an artisan who would like to join up with WSOAPP
We are always jurying new artisans as they come in and placing possible candidates on a waiting list. Current shop space was given first, to active members with in the group and second to affiliate members of the group. At present, shop space is limited on the website as we do not want to grow too big or exceed the limits of our domain hosting, however we are accepting new members until we reach our limit. Then as space opens up, we will go down our waiting list to let new member shops in.
How do I get considered to join up?
First, contact us through the homepage or our blog and tell us about your business, feel free to tell us a bit about yourself as well. We like to see a good history of positive feed back either on Etsy or on Ebay, but having accounts in either place is not mandatory. It OK to belong to other selling groups. Send along at least 5 photos of different handmade items that you have most currently done and work that you feel will be representative of the style you will be listing with our group. Your items and business details will then be submitted to a blind jury for review. A blind jury is where your business and personal names are withheld from the the WSOAPP members who make up the jury panel and they base their decisions solely upon the quality of your artwork and business details
What is the jury panel looking for in my work?
1. Innovation and uniqueness in design, whatever that item/s may be.
2. If a purchased pattern was used, that the pattern designer be given due credit
3. Quality in workmanship and detail, whether it be in the painting, sewing or construction
4. Good quality photography and presentation, (staging) of the item. This is an online market and we feel that photography is half as important as the quality and design--a product here is presented to potential buyers through online means and this is the only representation those prospective clients have other than the artist's description.
